Tammy Duckworth on calling Trump ‘Cadet Bone Spurs’: ‘Bullies need to have a taste of their own medicine’

Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., says she called President Trump “Cadet Bone Spurs” earlier this month because he needed to know what it feels like to be bullied.

“I think bullies need to have a taste of their own medicine, and he is a bully,” Duckworth told Poltico’s “Women Rule” podcast.

Duckworth called Trump the name in response to the president saying it was “un-American” and “treasonous” for Democrats not to applaud his remarks during the State of the Union address.

Trump never served in the military and received five draft deferments during the Vietnam War, the first four for being in college and the fifth for heel spurs.

“I just think it’s ironic that you have an injury that is so severe it keeps you out of serving your country, but you don’t remember which foot it was in, or whether it was in both feet,” she told Politico.
