Leaked Democratic fundraiser memo projects Biden wins with 290 electoral votes

A top Democratic fundraising operative predicted on Wednesday that Joe Biden would be victorious in the 2020 election against President Trump, hinting at the expectations in a memo sent out to 100 lucrative party donors.

“VP Biden is on track to win this election and he will be the next President of the United States,” wrote the operative, who has raised significant money for Biden’s campaign effort and shared the memo with Business Insider under the condition of anonymity. “Biden wins this with at least 290 Electoral Votes, and with wider margins in the Midwest than Trump won with in 2016.”

The operative said Biden is expected to win Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Nevada, putting him on a secure path to the White House.

The operative called Georgia a toss-up but noted that most outstanding ballots are from Atlanta and likely to favor Biden. The operative added that North Carolina looks to be leaning toward Trump.

Wisconsin was also projected for Biden, which he won on Wednesday afternoon.

The Trump campaign has already declared it will demand a recount in the state, expressing optimism for a different conclusion if it makes it happen.

“If we count every legally cast ballot, we will win,” said Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien.

The Associated Press announced on Wednesday that Biden won Wisconsin by just over 20,000 votes, a razor-thin margin. The state does not have automatic recounts, but a losing candidate can request a recount if the victor won by at or less than 1%. This margin would fit that category.
