Singer Michelle Branch has been arrested on charges of domestic violence.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department was called to a home after receiving calls about a possible domestic disturbance early Thursday morning. At the scene, officers found Branch with her husband, Patrick Carney, whom she is divorcing. Branch admitted she had slapped Carney one or two times, according to police, and while Carney did not have visible injuries, Branch was taken into custody.

The singer’s bail was set at $1,000, and she has since been released because she is reportedly breastfeeding the 6-month-old child she shares with Carney.
Carney and Branch were revealed to be divorcing on Thursday.

“To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” Branch said in a statement. “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”
Branch, a solo artist, has been married to Carney, a drummer in the Black Keys, since 2019.
