FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) — Three people are being honored by the Civil War Trust for their efforts to preserve that war’s battlefields.
Edward Wenzel of Vienna, Clark B. “Bud” Hall of Heathsville, and Tersh Boasberg of Washington, D.C., have each received the nonprofit group’s Edwin C. Bearrs Lifetime Achievement Award.
The Free Lance-Star (http://bit.ly/LtGynK ) says the trust presented the awards Saturday night during its annual convention in Richmond.
Wenzel and Hall fought to save the Chantilly battlefield in Fairfax County from development. That unsuccessful effort led to the creation of the first national battlefield advocacy group, with later merged with the trust.
Boasberg is a land-use and preservation attorney whose legal expertise made some early battlefield preservation victories possible.
