Fairfax County police are investigating apparent human remains found in Lorton Tuesday morning.
Police said a man walking on Furnace Road between Richmond Highway and Old Colchester Road found what appeared to be partial skeletal remains near a railroad bridge just off the roadway at about 11:50 a.m.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the remains belonged to an adult, police said. It’s unknown how long they were there. The remains have been sent to the chief medical examiner’s office.
