Fourteen people died in 11 crashes on Virginia roadways during the long Labor Day weekend, according to Virginia State Police.
That number is slightly up from the 13 people killed in Labor Day weekend crashes last year.
Police said troopers responded to a total of 577 traffic crashes between Friday and Monday. In three accidents, including one in Fairfax County, two people died. Another fatal crash occurred in Prince William County.
Other deadly accidents were reported in Fauquier, Lancaster, Chesterfield, Campbell, Mecklenburg, Northampton and Smyth counties, and the cities of Virginia Beach and Danville.
Troopers also arrested 110 impaired drivers and cited 7,475 speeders and 2,164 reckless drivers, police said. Police also cited 700 motorists for seat belt violations and 245 for child safety seat violations.
