Colombia landslide leaves hundreds dead and missing

More than 1,000 Colombian soldiers and police are searching for hundreds of missing people after heavy mudslides in Mocoa killed at least 254 people.

The army said another 400 people were injured.

Heavy rains in the area caused the rivers to overflow, destroying nearby homes and buildings.

Mocoa Mayor Jose Antonio Castro said the city is “totally isolated” and without electricity and water, the BBC reported.
