Bill Kristol joined the table on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Thursday to discuss the latest in the effort to unbind delegates to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland later this month. Kristol disputed the idea that Donald Trump espoused in his Ohio speech Wednesday that the “Never Trump” movement is “disappearing.”
He also countered the suggestion that the effort to oust Trump at the convention needs an alternative candidate already announced. “I think in this case, actually, you’re better off just having a referendum of Trump on the first ballot,” Kristol said.
The idea of requiring a voice vote on the floor of the convention, he added, “would be very interesting and exciting, and I think it would be great for the Republican party.”
“It would be the most exciting thing that has happened politically in our lifetime,” Kristol said.
