‘Stay out of Dodge’: Whoopi Goldberg considering taking break from The View over coronavirus

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg is consulting with her doctor on whether she should take a break from the ABC show over concerns about the coronavirus.

“And just to be extra careful about her health, Whoopi is consulting with her doctor today,” co-host Sunny Hostin announced during Tuesday’s episode. “She wants everyone to know she feels fine and plans on being back here tomorrow.”

“She wants to get checked out just to make sure it’s smart for her to be here every day,” Hostin continued, adding that Goldberg was taking the precaution because she suffered from pneumonia last year and “was not in a good place.”

Dr. Mehmet Oz, who was on the show, said he would advise Goldberg to “stay out of Dodge” for a little bit while the coronavirus pandemic is spreading, a reference to Dodge City, Kansas, which was the setting of cowboy and Western films in the 1900s.

Co-host Joy Behar announced last week that she would be taking a break from the show because she is “in a higher-risk group.” Behar is 77 years old, and Goldberg is 64.
