Bush ? no, not that one ? to host Phelps celebration

Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush will host a portion of the Oct. 4 homecoming celebration for Olympic champion Michael Phelps, event organizers said today.

Bush, who also hosts the Billy Bush Radio Show and is a first cousin of President George W. Bush, will emcee the evening portion of the celebration at Fort McHenry, where the Naval Academy Concert Band is expected to perform a special tribute to Phelps and other local Olympians.

“I am thrilled to take part in honoring the world’s greatest Olympian and a great American,” Bush said in a statement released by Gov. Martin O’Malley’s office. “For health reasons, I was initially a little concerned about keeping Michael out of water for too long, but have been assured he can handle it.”

Following a parade in Phelp’s hometown of Towson, festivities will begin at Fort McHenry at 3 p.m. The “official” program starts at 7 p.m. culminating with a fireworks display at 7:50, organizers said.
