Kellyanne Conway responds to backlash over couch photo: I meant ‘no disrespect’

Senior White House adviser Kellyanne Conway says she “meant no disrespect” after a photo showing her kneeling on an Oval Office couch circulated on social media late Monday.

“I was being asked to take a picture in a crowded room with the press behind us,” she told Fox Business Network on Tuesday. “I was asked to take a certain angle and was doing exactly that. I certainly meant no disrespect, I didn’t mean to have my feet on the couch.”

Conway claimed the photo came from a journalist “who is not happy” with President Trump.

“It is venomous, it is vicious, it bothers my children to be frank with you,” she added.

The Agence France-Presse tweeted the photo Monday after Trump met with dozens of leaders of historically black colleges in the Oval Office.

Conway was looking at her cellphone after taking a photo of the group.
