After months of speculation, the marriage between Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen is over.
The couple is expected to file divorce papers in Florida on Friday.

Brady and Bundchen posted statements about their separation on Instagram.
“In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be at the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve,” Brady wrote.
“We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However, we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead,” he continued.

“With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce,” Bundchen wrote. “My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve. The decision to end a marriage is never easy, but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always. I kindly ask that our privacy be respected during this sensitive time.”

It’s believed that a reason for the separation has to do in part with Brady continuing to play football. He doubled down on that last week, saying he had no plans to retire.

In February, Brady announced his retirement, only to announce about a month later that he would return this season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” Brady said. “That time will come. But it’s not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa,” he tweeted in March.

While the couple has reportedly been on rocky terms in recent months, Bundchen posted a loving message on Instagram to her husband on his birthday.
“Happy birthday to one of the most focused, disciplined and fashionable person I know! @tombrady you are so loved and we are always here cheering for you and wishing you all the most wonderful things in life!” she wrote on Aug. 3.
