President Trump was nominated Friday for the Nobel Peace Prize for the second time this week following a historic peace deal between Serbia and Kosovo.
“I have nominated the US Gov. and the governments of Kosovo and Serbia for the Nobel Peace Prize for their joint work for peace and economic development, through the cooperation agreement signed in the White House,” tweeted Magnus Jacobsson, a member of the Swedish parliament. “Trade and communications are important building blocks for peace.”

Serbia said it would move its embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem last week and agreed to a historic normalization of relations with the breakaway country of Kosovo.
“Truly, it is historic,” Trump said while standing next to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovan Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti. “I look forward to going to both countries in the not-too-distant future.”
Earlier this week, Trump was nominated for the award by a member of Norway’s parliament in response to the recently brokered peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
“Indeed, Trump has broken a 39-year-old streak of American Presidents either starting a war or bringing the United States into an international armed conflict. The last president to avoid doing so was Peace Prize laureate Jimmy Carter,” Christian Tybring-Gjedde wrote about nominating Trump.
On Friday, the Trump administration announced another positive diplomatic development in the form of a historic peace deal between Bahrain and Israel.
“This is a historic breakthrough to further peace in the Middle East,” Trump said in a statement. “Opening direct dialogue and ties between these two dynamic societies and advanced economies will continue the positive transformation of the Middle East and increase stability, security, and prosperity in the region.”
