A transcript from a deposition with Hillary Clinton’s former information technology specialist made public Thursday shows the IT aide responded to more than 100 questions with the same answer.
“On the advice of counsel, I will decline to answer your question in reliance on my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution,” Bryan Pagliano, the staffer who set up and maintained Clinton’s private server, said after each question he was asked.
Pagliano’s deposition Wednesday was one of seven to be taken in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by conservative watchdog Judicial Watch over personnel records from Clinton’s tenure.
The IT aide’s attorneys instructed Pagliano not to answer the most basic questions posed by Judicial Watch lawyers, including whether he had seen a copy of the subpoena that had compelled him to submit for the deposition in the first place.
Pagliano refused to answer questions about why the “clintonemail.com” system was set up, who used the system and the extent to which other members of Clinton’s staff were aware of the arrangement.
