Conservative radio show host Mark Levin slammed journalists as “liars” for a lack of reporting on cases in which mail-in ballots caused disruptions during elections.
“Let me give the media some evidence, from the media,” Levin said during an appearance on Fox & Friends on Sunday morning before rattling off cases in which mail-in ballots caused voting disruption. “Here’s a piece in Just The News. Half a million, half a million, by my calculation, that’s 500,000, incorrect absentee ballot applications sent across Virginia, including to dead people. Look at this one, ‘Nevada sent more than 200,000 mail and primary ballots to the wrong addresses.’ Wow.”
“By my calculation, that’s now 700,000,” he continued. “‘84,000 mail-in ballots disqualified in New York City primary vote.’ Wow. … California, we checked at 102,000 mail-in ballots because of mistakes. ‘New Jersey, all mail-in vote debacle is a warning for November.’ Here’s one, ‘Developed countries ‘ban’ mail-in voting, US would be ‘laughing stock.””
“Now, if you’re in the media, how do you miss these things? How do you miss these things? Because you’re liars, that’s how you miss these things,” Levin added.
His comments come as many Democrats push for broader vote-by-mail opportunities during the coronavirus pandemic. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been one of the most vocal Democrats to support mail-in voting for the general election, saying last week that it’s crucial for voters’ health.
“People should not have to choose between their health and their vote, and that’s very important,” she said.
President Trump and his allies in Congress have denounced mail-in voting, citing corruption and a stall in counting the final tally.
“If you do universal mail-ins with millions and millions of ballots, you are never going to know what the real result of an election is,” Trump said late last month. “It’s going to be a very, very sad day for our country.”
Levin’s appearance comes after Trump signed a combination of an executive order and memorandums on Saturday at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. The executive measures are intended to provide financial relief to the unemployed, defer payroll tax payments, and protect tenants from evictions, among other things.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to hit these executive orders because Nancy Pelosi’s very upset the president signed these executive orders at his country club,” Levin said of the president’s executive order. “Should he have signed them in front of her $25,000 freezer at her winery? Would she have preferred that with her ridiculous class warfare?”
“The president is trying to, and now will get money to people who are suffering, their families. They need their unemployment compensation. He’s trying to protect renters. Democrat governors have shut down this economy from sea to shining sea, and they like it both ways, the Democrats,” he added.
Levin then continued to lay in on Democrats.
“Let me tell you, payback is a bitch,” he said. “Do you remember Obama with his phone and his pen? Well, apparently, he left his phone and his pen, and President Trump picked it up. Remember what he said? If the Republicans don’t act, he’s going to act on his own? And we have DACA, a real piece of legislation. And by the way, the chief justice of the United States said he didn’t have any problem with this, so the president of the United States wants to reduce the tax burden on working Americans, and that includes Democrats. He wants to make it possible for people to pay their rent, and he wants to make it possible for people to have food on the table.”
“And Nancy Pelosi, what was their priority?” he continued. “They want to destroy the electoral system. They want open borders for illegal aliens, they want benefits for illegal aliens, and they want all of America to bail out New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and California’s pension systems. And meanwhile, their biggest supporters, the teachers unions, are like … George Wallace standing in the school doorways, not allowing our little kids to go to school because they won’t follow the science, right, Dr. Fauci? … Well, the science says open the schools, but the Democrats won’t. Why? Chaos.”
