TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a man was electrocuted by power lines that had fallen behind a Tampa home.
Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Penny says paramedics responded to a 911 call at the home Wednesday morning.
Penny says the power lines had fallen between a shed and a fence. Witnesses told authorities that they had heard a loud boom, and Christopher Diehl went to investigate.
Paramedics found Diehl on the ground but could not approach him because the power lines were still charged. Once utility workers arrived and secured power, the paramedics retrieved Diehl.
Penny says Diehl was pronounced dead at a hospital.
