WATCH: Father wrestles alligator into headlock on daughter’s first day of school

A father in Texas is being praised as a hero after he wrestled an alligator into a headlock while trying to take his daughter to her first day of middle school.

Mike Trinh, a Missouri City, Texas, native, sprang into action when his daughter pointed out the beast in his driveway.

Trinh attempted to contact authorities, but he was unable to get any help, according to a report.

Using the knowledge he gained by watching Steve “Crocodile Hunter” Irwin’s television programs, the father took on the alligator.

Footage of the incident is going viral.

Trinh placed towels over the gator’s head to calm the animal down, drove his daughter to school, and returned to finish the job, according to the report.

Once he got back home, Trinh joined forces with his 19-year-old daughter to take down the beast.

He jumped on the gator and put the animal in a headlock, and his daughter took the opportunity to secure towels with duct tape and jiu-jitsu tape to the animal’s mouth, the report noted.

After getting the gator under control, Trinh and a friend loaded it onto a truck and drove it to a pond, where it was released.

“Once we removed the tape,” the father said. “It didn’t do anything. It hissed … I crossed it off the list. I’m going to wrestle an alligator today.”
