Special counsel Robert Mueller is looking to delay sentencing for President Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, because Flynn is still cooperating with Mueller’s investigation.
A federal judge in Washington held a procedural hearing in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday to ask why Mueller’s team wasn’t ready for the sentencing phase. According to CNN, Mueller said Flynn was still cooperating, and the judge agreed to reconvene in August to check in again.
Flynn is facing up to five years in prison for pleading guilty for lying to the FBI, but many believe it’s unlikely he will be sentenced to the full five years due to his continued cooperation with Mueller and the FBI.
