  • Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will criticize the jobs record of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney during a visit to South Carolina on Monday, several hours ahead of the next GOP debate.

O’Malley, chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, is visiting the Palmetto State as President Obama’s campaign surrogate two days before he plans to submit a state budget to the Maryland legislature that closes a $1.1 billion shortfall.

O’Malley will hold a news conference criticizing Romney’s “legacy of job destruction and lack of support for middle-class families looking for a fair shot at the American Dream,” according to an advisory.
