Carroll County is celebrating National Arbor Day with the planting of two Red Sunset Maples on the grounds of the county office building. The event will begin at 11 a.m. April 4 at 225 N. Center St. in Westminster
Arbor Day originated with the Nebraska agriculture board accepting a resolution in 1892 by J. Sterling Morton to set aside one day to plant trees.
Morton became known as the “Founder of Arbor Day.”
