White House confirms Ukrainian call transcript filed on more secure system

The White House reportedly acknowledged that they did place the transcripts of the phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on a more secure system.

The admission, which was first reported by CNN Friday morning, came to light the day after the whistleblower’s complaint about the conversation was released publicly. The complaint, which reportedly was filed by a CIA officer, alleged that the White House officials “had intervened to ‘lock down’ all records of the phone call, especially the word-for-word transcript of the call.”

A senior White House officer told CNN that the transcript was placed in a separate electronic system at the direction of National Security Council lawyers: “NSC lawyers directed that the classified document be handled appropriately.”

The complaint did not contain firsthand accounts but relied on information provided to him from other government officials.

Trump pointed that out in an attempt to discredit the whistleblower on Twitter Friday morning. He tweeted, “Sounding more and more like the so-called Whistleblower isn’t a Whistleblower at all. In addition, all second hand information that proved to be so inaccurate that there may not have even been somebody else, a leaker or spy, feeding it to him or her? A partisan operative?”

Despite the president’s insinuation, the White House confirming one aspect of the complaint may lend more credibility to other parts of it.
