San Diego teachers required to attend ‘white privilege’ training where they are told ‘you are racist’: Report

Teachers in San Diego, California, are reportedly being required by their union to attend “white privilege” training where they are called racist and are told to commit to becoming “anti-racist.”

The San Diego Unified School District is forcing teachers to attend the training, which reportedly begins with a “land acknowledgment” where teachers are told to acknowledge that the United States sits on stolen land, according to leaked documents obtained by journalist Christopher F. Rufo of City Journal.

Rufo reported that teachers are shown clips of White Fragility author Robin DiAngelo and Be Antiracist: A Journal for Awareness, Reflection and Action author Ibram X. Kendi before being told that they are “upholding racist ideas” and must submit to a “new racial orthodoxy.”

“The teachers are told that they are part of an oppressive white power structure,” Rufo wrote. “The trainers claim that ‘white people in America hold most of the [power]’ and that white teachers have an ‘ability to thrive’ that is ‘being preserved at every level of power.’”

San Diego Unified School District did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.

Earlier this year, Rufo reported on similar training being conducted in Seattle, Washington, where white city employees were required to take part in a training titled “Interrupting Internalized Racial Superiority and Whiteness.”

In September, President Trump ordered federal agencies to cease funding for training of government employees across the country that promoted “critical race theory” or “any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests either (1) that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or (2) that any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.”
