‘Stop lying!’: Trump, Cruz surrogates spar on CNN

A CNN panel discussion became heated Thursday when talk radio host and Ted Cruz supporter Steve Deace accused Donald Trump surrogate Kayleigh McEnany of lying about the 2016 GOP primary.

The blow-up occurred when McEnany suggested during a discussion on “CNN Newsroom” that Trump is correct to question whether Colorado’s caucus system is fraudulent and unfair. Trump maintains that he was robbed in Colorado because victory there is not based on the popular vote.

McEnany echoed these sentiments Thursday, and alleged that Cruz’s victory, which saw winning all of the state’s 34 delegates, shows he and the GOP party bosses don’t care about the will of the people.

But Deace was having none of it.

“Kayleigh, I don’t know you. Seriously, do you have any integrity at all? Is it that important to be on national television?” he asked.

CNN’s Brooke Baldwin tried to intercede, but the talk radio host railed against McEnany for suggesting that the senator and Colorado Republican Party colluded somehow to disenfranchise voters.

“You darn well know 65,000 — I am keeping it professional, she’s the one lying! — 65,000 people voted in Colorado at this thing called a caucus, called an election,” he continued. “There has been no voter-less election. Every delegate is elected. … This is the biggest lie and the biggest scam.”

He added, “[M]illions of people are freaking just sick of it. Stop lying! There wasn’t a voter-less election in Colorado! You’re a liar! Stop lying, please!”
