Actress Meghan Markle actively tried to avoid then-reality television star Donald Trump during joint TV appearances in 2006 and 2007, according to a new biography released to coincide with Markle’s highly anticipated wedding to Prince Harry.
“One guest caused quite the frisson: Donald Trump, then making a guest appearance to cross-promote ‘The Apprentice,'” famed British royal correspondent Andrew Morton wrote in “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” referring to Markle’s stint as a “briefcase girl” on the NBC game show, “Deal or No Deal.”
“He gave girls his card and invited them to play golf at one of his courses. Fellow briefcase girl Tameka Jacobs told me, ‘He was super-creepy, but some girls were attracted to money and power and took his number. Meghan was one of the girls who gave him a wide berth,’” Morton added.
The excerpt from the book, which comes out April 16, follows accusations that President Trump had extramarital affairs with porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDdougal during the same time period.
It also follows speculation Trump would not be invited to witness the royal nuptials.
As the wedding is not considered a state event, the couple are not obligated to invite foreign heads of state.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, however, reportedly wanted to extend an invitation to former President Barack Obama before they were advised against doing so by British government officials out of fear the snub would offend Trump.
The ceremony is set to take place at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on May 19.
