The Humane Society of Fairfax County hosted its first “Woof Walk,” a three-mile dog parade and celebration at Burke Lake Park on Sunday to show off more than a dozen dogs up for adoption. The event, emceed by Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., wound up being a bigger celebration than planners had anticipated. Fairfax County Board Chairwoman Sharon Bulova hosted the dog parade and contest, and local police performed K-9 demonstrations. One of the dogs that participated in the walk was adopted at the event. The dog walk could become an annual tradition, Humane Society President Vicki Kirby said. For information on dogs available for adoption through the Humane Society, visit hsfc.org.
