Ad attacks Devin Nunes for targeting ‘conservative icon’ Jeff Sessions

A new radio ad targets Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., for quarreling with “conservative icon” Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Nunes recently threatened to hold Sessions in contempt of Congress over the Justice Department’s refusal to turn over classified documents related to the Russia investigation.

“Sounds like a scheme Nancy Pelosi cooked up over in San Francisco, don’t you think?” the ad from the Swamp Accountability Project says. “Tell Nunes to stop playing games and get back to work.”

The ad is being played on radio stations in Nunes’ district in California, according to Flash Report and Mother Jones. Nunes is up for re-election in 2018 and faces Democrat Andrew Janz, a deputy district attorney in Fresno County.

“It’s time for Nunes to start paying attention to what we here in the Central Valley need, and quit pulling political stunts. Leave that to the Democrats and the media,” the ad says.

Swamp Accountability Project spokesperson Liz Marin said the group was running the ads to “highlight to Nunes’ constituents his misplaced priorities. Hopefully, he’ll refocus in the coming weeks.”

According to a report from the Huffington Post, Nunes, who is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, is fundraising off his support for President Trump and his work in which he said he “exposed the real collusion between the Department of Justice, the F.B.I. and the Clinton campaign.”
