5-year-old found with more than 20 bags of crack at day care

A 5-year-old boy reportedly brought 22 packs of crack cocaine to his Philadelphia day care Tuesday morning.

Sources at the Philadelphia Police Department told CBS’ local affiliate that the child had 22 packs of the street drug in a sandwich bag in his pocket. The boy’s father reportedly told him to keep the bag in his pocket and not to take it out.

A teacher’s aide ended up making the discovery and confiscating the bag before turning it over to the director of the St. Cyprian’s Children Center, which is overseen by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

“The aide reported the matter to an administrator, who immediately called 911. Police responded to the call and determined the substance in the bag to be crack-cocaine. Law enforcement secured the bag and removed it from the premises,” the archdiocese said in a statement.

The discovery is under investigation by law enforcement.
