“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough said Monday that Washington would be “melting down” if the suspected Texas church shooter were “named Muhammad.” “Had it been a radical Islamic terrorist with a beard named Muhammad, Washington would be melting down right now,” Scarborough said.
Twenty-six people were killed and 20 more injured after a shooter opened fire on a Baptist church Sunday in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Police identified the deceased suspect as Devin Patrick Kelley, a 26-year-old Texas man. Kelley was found dead in his vehicle several miles from the church.
Scarborough condemned what he described as a lack of action in response to recent shootings in the U.S.
“We wouldn’t put up with this with any other epidemic,” he said. “We would not — if this were terrorism, Islamic radical terrorism again, Washington would be on fire this morning.”
