A Trump-supporting conservative Christian lawmaker said he won’t judge the Republican presidential candidate’s alleged treatment of women, and said it’s up to the courts to “work that out.”
“When you look at those values that made America great as a country, when you look at those, those are neither Republican or Democrat, those are American ideologies, and I see Donald Trump protecting those with the help of Congress and over Mrs. Clinton,” said Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., on CNN. “On his other stuff and his personal life and the things he did, let the courts work that out. I’m not going to be the judge of that.”
“There are things that we’ve all done and the judge will not let you be judged. He who has not sinned throw the first stone,” he said.
Yoho argued there isn’t “proof” yet to show that Trump has sexually assaulted women and questioned why it took so long for accuser Jessica Leeds to “speak out” against her alleged assailant. No charges were ever filed against Trump in this alleged incident.
“That’s not proof. That’s not been proven and it was 30 years ago. Why does it take somebody 30 years to speak out?” Yoho said. “I’m not defending him and I’m not defending any actions he did or defending Mr. or Mrs. Clinton on what they did or didn’t do.”
“Let’s do what’s best for America and, again, if I compare Donald Trump to Hillary Clinton, you know, there’s things we can point fingers at and say, you know, let’s stop the nonsense,” he said. “I’m looking for the adult to raise up and you’ll see Mr. Trump do that. I truly believe that.”
When asked if he was dismissing the sexual assault allegations against Trump as nonsense, Yoho responded “Absolutely not” and then pointed fingers at Bill Clinton.
“If you look at her what her husband allegedly has done and she has stood by and this is going back into the garbage in the gutter, and I choose not to live there and the American people, for the most part, choose not to live there,” he said. “The media attention stays on there and, of course, both candidates are great at keep piling it on.”
