A 53-year old security guard faced numerous charges Monday after what authorities say was an angry outburst while armed Sunday at the site of a fatal Beltway crash in Prince George?s County.

The guard, Kenneth Taylor, of Annapolis Road in Bladensburg, was wearing a security uniform when he approached the crash scene shortly after the 6 p.m. collision, while rescue personnel were tending to one of the victims, Maryland State Police said. When two troopers arrived the guard verbally threatened them and began to yell orders at Fire Department personnel on the scene, said police. First Sgt. Russell Newell said Taylor was ranting, using foul language, and his attempts to direct emergency workers on the scene caused confusion.

Taylor was taken into custody after he became aggressive toward a trooper, Newell said.

Taylor faces charges of handgunviolations, disorderly conduct and assault. He remained in custody Monday morning at the state police barracks, where, Newell said, he was still shouting and kicking.

The crash killed two people and shut down the Outer Loop of the Beltway, tying up traffic in the area near Ritchie Marlboro Road.

The names of the two victims, one driving a Ford pickup and the other a Ford Explorer, have not yet been released.

Police said Taylor?s actions and the cause of Sunday?s crash are still being investigated.
