Chris Evans, the American actor known for taking on superhero roles in movies, is expressing his “rage” and “fury” over President Trump’s election.
“I feel rage,” Evans said in an interview published Wednesday. “I feel fury. It’s unbelievable. People were just so desperate to hear someone say that someone is to blame. They were just so happy to hear that someone was angry. Hear someone say that Washington sucks. They just want something new without actually understanding. I mean, guys like Steve Bannon—Steve Bannon!—this man has no place in politics.”
The 35-year-old has not held back when it comes to providing feedback on political events. Evans, who has played Marvel Comics character Captain America and the Human Torch in Fantastic Four, usually takes to Twitter to share his thoughts.
On one such recent occasion, Evans got into a fight with David Duke over Trump’s picking former Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions for attorney general. Duke called Evans anti-Semitic, while Evans said Duke should learn to love people.
“Look, I’m in a business where you’ve got to sell tickets,” Evans told Esquire. “But, my God, I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror if I felt strongly about something and didn’t speak up. I think it’s about how you speak up. We’re allowed to disagree. If I state my case and people don’t want to go see my movies as a result, I’m okay with that.”
