FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — A man who coached high school football in Fairfax County has been charged with conspiracy to distribute steroids.
Fairfax County Police say they arrested 43-year-old Jeffery Reagan Wednesday following a months-long investigation. His alleged supplier, 35-year-old Jeremy Helbing of Leesburg, was also arrested and charged.
Reagan coached from 2007 through 2011 at South County High School. He was being evaluated for a job on the coaching staff at West Springfield. Fairfax County Public Schools says he is now suspended without pay.
Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said there is no evidence that Reagan supplied steroids to players but said the investigation is ongoing.
Reagan is scheduled to be arraigned Friday. No lawyer is listed. A call Thursday to a number listed for him went unanswered Thursday.
