Hillary Clinton announced Virginia Sen. Tim Kate as her running mate late Friday, prompting the unearthing of old exchanges between the two former Senate colleagues.

As part of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Kaine questioned Clinton in 2013 about her response to the 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Kaine’s question was in part a compliment of her leadership as then-secretary of state.
