Israeli spy chief holds secret meeting with Trump staffers

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dispatched the Mossad chief Yossi Cohen and a security delegation to meet secretly with President-elect Trump’s staff, according to a report.

Trump has been criticized for failing to take enough briefings from U.S. intelligence officials. The Israelis briefed Trump’s staff on issues like the Iranian nuclear deal, the war in Syria, terrorism, and the conflict with the Palestinians.

The report, by Israel’s Ynet News, does not specify when the meeting occurred.

The Israeli team also sought to persuade Trump to take a stand against an upcoming United Nations resolution the Israelis and others view as pro-Palestinian and damaging to Israel. It is believed President Obama may speak out in support of the resolution.
