Veteran unemployment rate reaches 19-year low

Veterans are among the groups prospering in the job market, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

For the month of April, the non-seasonally adjusted veteran unemployment rate was 2.3%, down from 2.9% in March. Veterans were unemployed at a rate of 3.7% in January.

The last time the veteran unemployment rate reached 2.3% was May 2000. Broken down, the unemployment rate for war on terror veterans was 1.7%.

The national unemployment rate dropped to a 50-year low as 263,000 jobs were added in April. The Hispanic unemployment rate also reached a record low in April, coming in at 4.2%.

President Trump tweeted that “AMERICA is now #1. We are the ENVY of the WORLD” after this morning’s release of April’s jobs report.
