Collins wants Mueller to testify about report

Sen. Susan Collins said Thursday she wants special counsel Robert Mueller to testify before Congress about his findings released in a lengthy report that found President Trump did not collude with Russians during the 2016 campaign.

“If Mr. Mueller were to testify, it could give the Congress and the American people another opportunity to better understand the facts and conclusions that he reached during his investigation,” Collins, R-Maine, said.

Collins said she would not comment on the findings until she has read the 400-plus page document, which was released late Thursday morning.

She praised “the thoroughness of the investigation” and said Attorney General William Barr’s decision to retract classified and sensitive information is “standard practice.”

Collins added, “It also speaks well for the Department of Justice, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and the three Attorneys General who served during this investigation, that there were no instances where the Special Counsel was told that his actions were inappropriate or unwarranted.”
