Rep. Ayanna Pressley said she intends to introduce a resolution to open an impeachment inquiry against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh following a since-corrected New York Times article that detailed a new sexual misconduct allegation against him.
“I believe Christine Blasey Ford,” the Massachusetts Democrat said in a statement to the Hill. “I believe Deborah Ramirez. It is our responsibility to collectively affirm the dignity and humanity of survivors.”
“Sexual predators do not deserve a seat on the nation’s highest court and Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation process set a dangerous precedent. We must demand justice for survivors and hold Kavanaugh accountable for his actions,” she added.
The resolution would authorize affidavits and subpoenas in connection with the impeachment inquiry. Kavanaugh has denied the allegation.
After the initial publication of the story, the New York Times later issued an editor’s note to their article because they “did not include one element of the book’s account regarding an assertion by a Yale classmate that friends of Brett Kavanaugh pushed his penis into the hand of a female student at a drunken dorm party. The book reports that the female student declined to be interviewed and friends say that she does not recall the incident.”
Within a day of the story’s release, many of the Democratic presidential candidates have called for Kavanaugh’s impeachment. Other members of “the squad” also voiced their support for impeachment.

This was almost a year ago.
It is unsurprising that Kavanaugh, credibly accused of sexual assault, would lie under oath to secure a Supreme Court seat.
Because sexual assault isn’t a crime of passion – it’s about the abuse of power.
He must be impeached.pic.twitter.com/9PhrgeYuHv

Nothing terrifies this corrupt president more than the idea of Congress upholding the rule of law.
We must open impeachment inquiries against Trump *and* Kavanaugh immediately. It’s our constitutional duty. https://t.co/OVjBDWSqZT
