Donald Trump charged Thursday that Hillary Clinton’s only plan to improve the lives of Americans is to give them a welfare check, and said her victory would doom the U.S. to “a future of slow growth, declining incomes and dwindling prosperity.”
“In Hillary Clinton’s America, we have surrendered our status as the world’s greatest economy and we have surrendered our middle class to the whims of foreign countries,” Trump said at the Economic Club of New York.
“Not one single idea she’s got will create one net American job or create one new dollar of American wealth for our workers,” he charged. “The only thing [Clinton] can offer is a welfare check.”
Compared to his economic agenda, which includes “bold new tax reform” and a temporary moratorium on financial regulations, Trump said Clinton is offering “only more taxing … more regulating and more wealth redistribution.”
“My plan will embrace the truth that people flourish under a minimal government burden,” he said. His economic plan would also reject “the cynicism that says our labor force will keep declining, the jobs will keep leaving and that our economy will never grow like it did once before.”
“We’re looking at an economy right now of no growth and redistribution of wealth — and that’s not going to work,” Trump declared. “Everything that is broken today can be fixed and every failure can be turned into a truly great success.”
