D.C. police have arrested two men in connection with the daytime robbery of a Georgetown jewelry store in which an employee was shot last year.
Police in Summit, N.J., arrested Romney Makonnen, 23, of White Plains, N.Y., and Chuka Ezeokoli, 24, in December and charged them in connection with a theft in New Jersey in December, D.C. police said.
D.C. police detectives, with the assistance of the Summit and New York City Police Department, obtained warrants charging the men with armed robbery in connection with the Aug. 20 robbery of Georgetown Fine Jewelry and Art,1265 Wisconsin Ave.
Ezeokoli was brought to the District Monday. Makonnen was awaiting extradition.
Two suspects — at least one of whom was armed with a handgun — charged into the jewelry store at about 2 p.m., demanding jewelry. One of the men had a wheeled suitcase with a duffel bag on top of it. The store employee was shot before the men escaped with the jewelry in a white car.
