Defense Secretary Jim Mattis’ chief spokeswoman is under investigation by the Pentagon inspector general for allegedly retaliating against staff members, according to a report.
Dana White, who is a top adviser to Mattis, has been under investigation for several weeks over the claims she mistreated staff who she had conduct personal errands and business, CNN reports.
The IG is looking into allegations that White improperly asked staff members to get her snacks and pantyhose from the Pentagon pharmacy, pick up her lunch, drive her to work, and do her mortgage paperwork, according to CNN.
Two staffers who reported the activity prior to May were later transferred and complained to the IG that the transfers were reprisals.
So far, none of the allegations have been substantiated and the IG investigation is ongoing.
“This is an ongoing review about which we cannot comment,” Charles Summers, principal deputy assistant to the defense secretary for public affairs, said in response to media queries directed to the Pentagon and White.
White was appointed in 2017. Any administrative punishment for misusing staff time could depend on Mattis.
