Louie Gohmert introduces Ben Shapiro at event on Capitol Hill after lecture canceled by actual snowflakes

Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, introduced conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro at an event hosted by the Conservative Opportunity Society and the Center for Security Policy on Capitol Hill Wednesday after his scheduled lecture at Georgetown University was canceled due to literal “snowflakes.”

“Introduced @benshapiro at an impromptu pizza lunch on the Hill when his event at Georgetown was canceled by ‘snowflakes.’ Hundreds of staffers showed up to take pictures with him & ask policy questions,” Gohmert tweeted.

Shapiro was addressing the Conservative Opportunity Society during the event, which was spearheaded by the society’s chairman, Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.

Shapiro, a frequent college campus lecturer, was slated to speak during an event hosted by Georgetown University’s College Republicans and the Young America’s Foundation. Cancellation of the event was announced on Twitter Wednesday.

“Due to inclement weather conditions in Washington, DC, tonight’s @benshapiro lecture at @Georgetown has been canceled. More information about rescheduling the event will be shared when available,” the Young Americans Foundation announced on their official Twitter page.

Shapiro’s controversial campus lectures have been the scene of havoc on multiple campuses after left-leaning protesters, commonly referred to by right-wing provocateurs as “snowflakes,” have posed major security threats to students and staffers.

Last year, the University of California, Berkeley reportedly spent $600,000 on security for a campus lecture where Shapiro spoke.
