Wounded Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner throws first pitch at Congressional Women’s Softball Game

Capitol Police Officer Crystal Griner, who was wounded in last week’s baseball shooting, threw out the first pitch at the Congressional Women’s Softball Game on Wednesday night.

Griner was one of the Capitol Police officers who engaged the gunman after he opened fire at the GOP baseball practice on June 14. Griner was shot in the ankle, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., was shot in the hip during the incident. He remains at MedStar Washington in fair condition.

In the women’s game, members of Congress verse female reporters in the D.C. press corps. The event is in its ninth year and raises money for breast cancer research, according to its website.
