President Trump will meet with bipartisan congressional leaders Monday afternoon as he looks to get his agenda moving swiftly through the legislative branch.
Before sitting down with House Speaker Paul Ryan, Trump will meet with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn, Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise.
The 5 p.m. meeting will also include the chiefs of staff for each congressional leader as well as White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
“The purpose is to get his agenda moving through Congress and to forge important relationships,” press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters at his first briefing on Monday.
Former President Obama was often criticized from members of both political parties for not spending enough time meeting with lawmakers during his two terms in office.
Trump has aimed to change that, while also inviting industry leaders to discuss key issues with him inside the Oval Office. The new president met with business leaders early Monday morning and plans to host the following labor and union leaders late Monday afternoon:

- Josephs Sellers Jr., Smart Union
- Steven Dodd, Sheet Metal Workers
