A 14-year-old boy died this past weekend after the scooter he was operating collided with a car in Southeast D.C., police said.
Kaywone Wills, of Southeast, died at a hospital, D.C. police said. A boy who was a passenger on the scooter was treated for minor injuries.
The collision occurred Saturday evening in the 2200 block of Hunter Place SE. According to an investigation, the scooter struck a speed bump and Wills lost control. The scooter swerved and collided head-on with a 1995 Mercury Cougar that was able to stop before the crash.
