Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper on Wednesday confirmed meeting with presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton “briefly” in Denver last week to discuss the possibility of joining the ticket as her running mate.
“If you look at the challenges that this country and the world faces right now, if you’re someone who’s asked, that you’re one of the people that can really make a difference and your country needs you, of course you take it seriously,” Hickenlooper told Bloomberg TV’s David Gura.
The two spoke for an hour over coffee during Clinton’s swing through Denver, where she rolled out her technology platform.
Hickenlooper’s background as a geologist, brewpub owner and Denver mayor may give him an edge with millennial voters, a group that Clinton’s rival Bernie Sanders has appealed to more than her.
Clinton is expected to announce her vice presidential pick before the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia starts on July 25.
