Well, that was a bit anti-climatic.
Less than two weeks after Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, the two have privately come to a divorce settlement.
Katie’s attorney confirmed the news saying, “The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.”
He went on to say, “We thank Tom’s counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”
The couple, their attorneys and their publicists have declined to release any details about the settlement.
But early Monday, Tom and Katie released separate statements saying their 6-year-old daughter was their main focus right now.
“We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents,” the statements read.
Sources close to the situation say the two have been working on an agreement where Suri would live with Katie in New York full-time, but Tom would have generous visitation rights.
Without this quick settlement, Tom and Katie would have had to show up to a mandatory family court hearing on July 17.
No doubt the couple wanted to keep their private lives, well, private — and certainly out of court — likely speeding up the settlement process and custody agreement.
Coming together
After being hit by a Jet Ski on Friday, Tameka Foster’s son and Usher’s stepson, Kyle Glover, has been declared brain dead.
And despite being locked in a heated custody battle, the former spouses have come together in the wake of this tragedy.
According to Us Weekly, Usher, who helped raise the 11-year-old, has been a source of emotional support for Tameka.
“Tameka and Usher don’t get along, but in this circumstance Usher is coming to her side,” a source told the mag. “Usher practically raised Kyle as his own. He’s known him for seven years.”
Usher is reportedly at the Atlanta hospital by the side of his ex-wife.
Kyle was struck in the head by the personal watercraft while riding on an inner tube that was being pulled behind a boat on a lake in Georgia.
Baby No. 1
Sienna Miller and her boyfriend, Tom Sturridge, welcomed a daughter over the weekend in London.
This is the first child for the English actress and her actor beau, who were first spotted together last spring.
Baby No. 2
Kourtney Kardashian and her longtime love, Scott Disick, welcomed a baby girl, Penelope Scotland Disick, in Los Angeles on Sunday.
This is the second child for the pair, who also have a son, Mason, 2.
A source told Us, “The entire Kardashian/Jenner clan was at the hospital and everyone was super excited!”
