A Nevada man was arrested Wednesday by federal authorities and is accused of making threatening phone calls to a state election worker.
The FBI took a Las Vegas man, Gjergi Luke Juncaj, 50, into custody, saying he made four phone calls to an employee at the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office in the elections division on Jan. 7, 2021. Juncaj has been charged with four counts of making threatening telephone calls.
“I hope your children get molested. You are all going to (expletive) die,” Juncaj told the election worker in one call, according to a statement by the Justice Department.

Nevada Capitol Patrol were contacted after the threats, which identified the caller as Juncaj, but did not charge him at the time, saying that his threats were “protected” political speech, according to Reuters.
Juncaj’s case is part of the Justice Department’s new Election Threats Task Force that was formed last June to “address threats of violence against election workers” and ensure that they are able to do their jobs “free from threats and intimidation,” the statement said.
The task force conducted its first arrest earlier this month, charging a Texas man who allegedly posted a message on Craigslist on Jan. 5, 2021, that was titled “Georgia Patriots it’s time to kill [Official A] the Chinese agent — $10,000,” according to a statement from the Justice Department.
