German abducted by suspected extremists in Nigeria

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Police say a German development worker has been kidnapped by suspected Islamic extremists in northeastern Nigeria.

Deputy Superintendent Othman Abubakar says witnesses report the man was taken at gunpoint from his car in Gombi, in Adamawa state on Wednesday. Northeastern Nigeria has been under a military state of emergency since May 2013.
