Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Sunday that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton is weak on foreign policy and not respected in international relations.
“I’ll be much tougher than her,” Trump said on “Fox News Sunday.” “I will have much more respect than her from foreign countries. In fact I read today where they’re very concerned with me.”
Trump also called the 2003 invasion of Iraq, which he claims to have opposed, a mistake.
“It’s too bad that we knocked [Saddam] out in the first place,” he said. “If our leaders went to the beach for 365 days, we’d be better off in the Middle East than we are now.”
Trump also faulted the Obama administration and Clinton for military intervention in Libya. “Every move we’ve made in the Middle East has been wrong,” he said. “Everyone wants me to get an advisor who has done this stuff for years. I don’t want those guys, because they’ve been wrong.”
