Poll: Sanders Doubles Support, Closes In On Hillary

Vermont senator Bernie Sanders has doubled his support in the Democratic presidential primary since June while frontrunner Hillary Clinton has seen her support among primary voters nationally drop by more than 20 points in that same time. That’s according to a new poll from Fox News that shows Clinton with 49 percent support to Sanders’s 30 percent support.

That’s a 15-point swing for Sanders from Fox’s poll from mid-June, which had him at 15 percent support to Clinton’s 61 pecent. Two polls in July demonstrate a steady upward trend for Sanders and and a downward trend for Clinton.

The poll, conducted between August 11 and August 13, shows 10 percent support for Vice President Joe Biden, who is reportedly considering entering the presidential race.

According to the Real Clear Politics average of polls for the Democratic nomination, Clinton still has a 32.5-point lead over Sanders. That’s still a large margin, but Clinton’s margin has been 25 points since its peak in February of this year.

In the Fox News poll, Clinton is doing worse against several of her potential Republican opponents than she was in June. Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Jeb Bush are all doing better against Clinton, with Rubio and Bush actually beating her by small margins.
